HONORABLE MENTIONS
Coconut Records – Nighttiming
Arcade Fire – Neon Bible
David Vandervelde – The Moonstation House Band
Bruce Springsteen – Magic
TOP TEN
#10 The White Stripes – Icky Thump
If this will be the last stripes album, they definitely will leave with a bang. I think it is their best album.
#9 The Foo Fighters – Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace
A different sound from these guys, but it works. The album is right up there with some of their best work.
#8 Waking Ashland – The Well
Their long awaited sophomore album is worth the wait. It is a great album with the guys experimenting with different sounds for almost every song.
#7 Rooney – Calling the World
I was not expecting to really like this album, but the band decided to go harder then their previous efforts and it comes off nicely. The album is very catchy and the songs will stay in your head for days.
#6 Winterkids – Memoirs
This band has been slowly climbing my charts of favourite British bands and with albums like Memoirs; they might just be the biggest band in England since Coldplay.
#5 The Eagles – Long Walk Out of Eden
The Eagles have a knack for making great albums and that streak continues with their new double disc album, which is brilliant.
#4 Jimmy Eat World – Chase This Light
Without a doubt in my mind, this album is the best thing that these guys have ever done.
#3 Angels & Airwaves – I-Empire
Maybe this is bias since I will always be a Blink fan, but this album may be better than their first album. Regardless, it is one hell of an album to say the least.
#2 Rilo Kiley – Under the Blacklight
I knew I would like this album, but I never could have imagined liking it as much as I do. There is just something about the lyrics, Jenna Lewis’ voice, the music and how it all comes together and just blows you away, well at least me.
#1 Sherwood – A Different Light
I want to call these guys are the new beach boys, especially if they continue to make albums like A Different Light with a nice California beach sound to it. The album is beautifully written, played to perfection by the guys and is catchy and poppy as hell. It is one of those albums that whenever you listen to it, you can’t help but to be in a good mood.
