CLARKEY'S LIST >>> TOP TEN UNIVERSITY MOVIES

With university classes just beginning, I feel that this is the perfect time to sort through all the films that the deal with the situations that undergraduates get into and the issues they deal with during those four memorable years. These films deal with different aspects of the university life.
Honourable Mentions:
Back to School
Dead Man on Campus
Slackers
She Cried No
Scream 2
Harvard Man

#10 The Skulls
Secret societies are part of the university experience for some. This movie isn't amazing, but it does give a decent job of exploring the secret societies of many Ivy League schools.

#9 Road Trip
Spur of the moment road trips to drive across the country to make sure your girlfriend doesn't get a tape of you having sex with another girl is part of everyone's college experience. Well, maybe just the spur of the moment road trips.

#8 Old School
One of the most unique fraternities to ever grace the big screen makes this film hilarious, especially when you have Vince Vaughn and Will Ferrell in your frat house.

#7 Good Will Hunting
This film's protagonist is not an undergraduate, but he is smarter than the majority of them. He is a maintenance worker at the university with his own troubles, including a very bad temper.

#6 Rules of Attraction
This film is the most stylish film on the list. It deals with the relationships/friendships that are formed in college and how some people are emotionally unstable or too full of themselves.

#5 Breaking Away
When you move out to go to school, sometimes you have to deal with the townies or "the cutters" as is the case in Breaking Away. This film shows the university life from the outside.

#4 Revenge of the Nerds
This is the movie for everyone who has never fit in high school and dream of the fruits of college life. However, cliques still exist in most universities, if not all. So, sometimes, you need to fight back like the nerds do in this film, resulting in some extremely funny and raunchy moments.

#3 Van Wilder
This flick is on the list for two very important reasons: 1) it is one of the funniest raunchiest college films ever made and 2) it deals with an important issue of being afraid to graduate and face the real world, which sucks in comparison to partying and having a good time in college.

#2 Rudy
The University of Notre Dame is one of the finest institutions in North America, according to me (Go Irish!) and is extremely hard to get into. Rudy never gives up in his pursuit to get accepted to Notre Dame and play for his beloved Fighting Irish. It is one of the most inspiring movies out there and deals with the theme of overcoming the odds and following your heart, which is what university is to some people.

#1 Animal House
Post secondary means a lot of different things to different people, but the majority of people go to college/university to party and have a good time. Some of them go a little extreme and eventually are put on double secret probation. Animal House is the ultimate college movie because it deals with the best parts of university: the partying, road trips, skipping classes, food fights, frat initiations, and sex with underage girls, professors and dean’s wives.
